Norm and EmmaNorman Kunc and Emma van der Klift

Norman and Emma have spent the last twenty years working to ensure that people with disabilities are able to take their rightful place in schools, workplaces, and communities. In 1990 they established Axis Consultation and Training, Ltd., which provides inservice training in the areas of inclusive education, employment equity, conflict resolution, and other disability rights issues. Norman was born with cerebral palsy and attended a school for children with physical disabilities until age 13, then he was integrated into a regular school. He went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in humanities and a Master of Science degree in family therapy. Prior to joining forces with Norman, Emma worked for a non-profit organization in a variety of capacities including supported employment, residential options, program director, and labour relations director. She also received training in conflict resolution and mediation at the Justice Institute in Vancouver, B.C.
